What is depression?
Depression is a term that is often used colloquially to describe everyday mood swings or to give expression to deep phases experienced. Everyone experiences such phases of negative feelings, but in most cases they can be temporary. However, depression in the medical sense is somewhat different from a temporary low mood. It is a serious illness that changes the nature of those affected and has a profound impact on their thoughts, feelings and actions, resulting in considerable suffering.
Depression is accompanied by a disturbance of brain function and often other physical functions and can cause great suffering. People suffering from depression can rarely free themselves from their depressed mood, listlessness and negative thoughts on their own. But there are good and effective options for drug, interventional and psychotherapeutic treatment.
Medical Sunday is an event for all interested citizens. In addition to insights into medical topics, the event also offers the opportunity to speak directly with the experts and clarify individual questions.
