New central hospital building
Magdeburg University Medical Centre (UMMD) has been given the green light for the construction of the planned central hospital, which is to be built on the site of the existing university hospital campus. The finance committee of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt approved the financing of the project. The estimated costs for the construction project amount to around 1.06 billion euros. The new central hospital will be directly connected to Hospitals 60.
Prof. Dr Heinze, Medical Director of the UMMD, emphasised the importance of this measure: "We are extremely pleased about the approval to finance this important investment project and we are very grateful to the state government. The modernisation will make Magdeburg University Hospital fit for the future in order to meet the constantly growing demands on medical care and medical progress."
Marco Bohn, Commercial Director, underlines the strategic importance of the project: "The planned new building for the central hospital is a decisive step towards modernising the medical infrastructure in the north of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.It will ensure the best possible patient care and further increase the attractiveness of the site for both our patients and our employees."
