Instructions for Authors of poster abstracts for
STUDY GROUP GBM NEUROCHEMISTRY
CELLULAR SIGNALING IN NEUROPROTECTION AND PLASTICITY
 September 26-28, 2002; Magdeburg; Germany.

Please have a look at the sample abstract carefully (at the end) and adhere strictly to the instructions. Manuscripts that are not in accordance with these instructions will be returned.

1) Abstracts must be submitted electronically via email as MsWord.doc (Win Word 97 format) to georg.reiser@medizin.uni-magdeburg.de. Please adhere strictly to the format outlined on the sample page below. Name, phone and fax numbers as well as email address of the presenting author must be entered in the form as well. Please download the form, complete it and submit by email as an attachment in addition to your abstract.  If electronic submission is not possible, four camera ready copies suitable for photographic reproduction have to be supplied. Abstracts must be printed in high quality and sent to: Prof. Dr. Georg Reiser, Institut für Neurobiochemie, Medizinische Fakultät,  Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Leipziger Str.44, 39120,  Magdeburg, Germany. Tel: +49-391-37-13088, Fax: +49-391-67-13097. On the back of the abstracts the name of the presenting author, his phone and fax numbers as well as the email address.

2) For the general arrangement of the abstract see the sample page. Abstracts must have a width of 8 cm and must not exceed the length of 12 cm. Full use of the allotted space should be made. Please do not capitalize headings. Font size of 10 must be used. Figures, tables and acknowledgments cannot be accepted.

3) References should be numbered in the text in order of their citation. At the end of the text citations should be assembled in accordance with the following examples:


The names of the journals should be abbreviated according to the World List of Scientific Periodicals. Put volume numbers in italics and give first and last pages.

4) With respect to biochemical terminology please follow the rules laid down by the IUPAC-IUB commission on Biochemical Nomenclature and Related Documents, published by the Biochemical society, U.K. Enzyme names should be in accordance with the recommendations of the IUPAC-IUB Commission of Biochemical Nomenclature, 1978, as given in Enzyme Nomenclature, published by Academic Press, New York, 1992. Genotypes should be given in italics, phenotypes should not be italicized. Nomenclature of bacterial genetics should follow Demerec et al. (1996) Genetics, 54, 61-76.

5) Please indicate institutes of all authors (without titles) and give address plus email address of the presenting author at the end of the scientific text.
