Announcement PhD student position (m/w/d)

 neuroscience, neurobiology, neurochemistry

 

For a joint research project the research group Mixed cerebral pathologies and cognitive aging at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Department Biomedical Magnetic Resonance (BMMR) at the Institute for Physics and the experimental cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine seek to fill a PhD student position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in  neuroscience and a master’s degree or equivalent in neuroscience, neurobiology, or closely related natural sciences disciplines. The position is associated with the Research Training Group 2413 SynAGE (https://www.synage.de), supported by the German Research Foundation. Initial funding is for 3 years.

 

The research project will address physical stress-related microvascular dysfunction in the brain and its potential for recovery in aging using high-resolution MRI. The ideal candidate is proficient with statistical and MR imaging data analysis and has previous experience assisting with  the administration of human cohort studies.. Familiarity with exercise interventions is beneficial. We expect a strong motivation to learn new methodologies and the ability to independently plan, conduct and analyze experiments and to prepare the results for publication.

 

The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment and an international team. English proficiency is mandatory. The candidate will be given the opportunity to develop a doctoral thesis with intensive mentoring and support through the RTG2413 (https://www.synage.de), and the CBBS graduate program (http://gp.cbbs.eu).

The opportunity to pursue a PhD is given and is supported accordingly.
