The failure of a long-lasting curative therapeutic benefit of currently applied chemotherapies against malignant cancers is suggested to be caused by the ineffectiveness of such interventions on cancer stem cells (CSCs).

We have described the hitherto unrecognized potential of elevated expression levels of certain extracellular matrix (ECM) genes in brain tumor tissue to be of predictive value for the clinical course of the patient.

With 33 degrees Celsius, we enjoyed a refreshing breeze on a day out of the lab on the water of the River Elbe. Our tour started in Schoenebeck and after nearly 4 hours we arrived safely to our final destination Yachthafen Magdeburg, where chilled drinks and some food awaited us. Next year we might go upstream the river :)
