University Clinic for Traumatology
Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Traumatology of the University Hospital of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg!
We thank you for your interest in our clinic.
The Department of Trauma Surgery provides around the clock, in close cooperation with a large number of other specialist departments of the University Hospital, the treatment of accidental injuries occurred at work, sports and private accidents. The spectrum covers the entire accident surgery at the highest level. As a maximum care facility, patients from the city of Magdeburg, the outskirts of the city, the northern Saxony-Anhalt and neighboring federal states with polytraumatization, spinal column and pelvic injuries as well as extremity injuries are treated here with upmost competence. The clinic was successfully certified as a supraregional trauma center (ÜTZ) in the Traumanetwork Sachsen-Anhalt North. In the central emergency department, patients are diagnosed according to ATLS® principles and treated in an interdisciplinary manner.
In two fully equipped operating rooms, all techniques of accident surgery including computer navigation are performed. In addition to modern osteosynthesis procedures on the spine, pelvis and extremities, arthroscopic interventions on the shoulder and knee joints are part of our standard repertoire. Age traumatology is a specialty of the clinic. A routine procedure in this field is hip replacement after fall. Collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics enables further treatment by special arthroplasty and treatment of complex cartilage injuries. In close cooperation with the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery, the reconstruction of extensive bone and soft tissue injuries are also performed here.
Our clinic is approved for the type of injury and serious injury procedure (VAV and SAV) of the professional associations.
There is a daily consultation for accidents and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, as well as for occupational health. Once a week, a special rehabilitation planning is carried out together with the employers' liability insurance associations.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us anytime.
