Clinic

The Department of Traumatology provides around the clock, in close cooperation with a large number of other specialist departments of the University Hospital, the treatment of accidental injuries incurred at work, sports and private accidents. The spectrum covers the entire accident surgery at the highest level. As a maximum care facility, patients from the city of Magdeburg, the outskirts of the city, the northern Saxony-Anhalt and neighboring federal states with polytraumatization, spinal column and pelvic injuries as well as extremity injuries are treated here with upmost competence. The clinic is closely involved in the Trauma Network of the DGU. In the central emergency department, patients are diagnosed according to ATLS® principles and treated in an interdisciplinary manner.

The clinic has 40 beds divided into two standard care wards. Children under the age of 16 are treated in close collaboration with Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology. Additional beds are available at the children's ward.

In two fully equipped operating rooms, all techniques of accident surgery including computer navigation are performed. In addition to modern osteosynthesis procedures on the spine, pelvis and extremities, arthroscopic interventions on the shoulder and knee as well as the hip arthroplasty after fall are carried out. Collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics enables further treatment through special arthroplasty and treatment of complex cartilage injuries. In close cooperation with the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery, the reconstruction of extensive bone and soft tissue injuries are also performed in our clinic.

There is a daily consultation for occupational health treatments. Once a week, a special rehabilitation planning is carried out together with the employers' liability insurance associations.

If you have further questions, feel free to contact us at any time.
