Information for students
Herzlich Willkommen an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg!
Dear student!
As the staff medical service of the University Hospital Magdeburg A.ö.R., we are your point of contact for study-related health issues throughout your studies.
At the beginning of your studies, you will undergo an initial occupational health examination focusing on the risk of infection and activities that are harmful to the skin. Appointments are organized via the Dean of Studies Office in Moodle. Please bring the following documents with you to your appointment:
- Insurance card
- Vaccination card
- Medical history form
- Student ID card
- If applicable, current laboratory results/ diagnostic reports/ AHB reports
As part of the occupational health examination, the first step is a consultation with a doctor to take a medical history and provide individual advice. In addition, a physical exam, a blood sample for laboratory tests (e.g., checking hepatitis B antibodies: anti-HBs), and a urine sample may be offered or required. We will check your current vaccination status and advise you on any recommended vaccinations. You are also welcome to have these carried out by us. We will then discuss the findings, and you will receive certificates of occupational health care and a certificate for your internships and clinical traineeships during your studies regarding vaccinations and immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases. A follow-up examination will be carried out at any time but at the latest before the start of the practical year.
Our care services also include advice for pregnant and breastfeeding students, advice on psychological problems and travel medicine advice prior to stays abroad as part of clinical traineeships and PJs. Please make an appointment by calling 0391-6714418.
