New Centre for Musculoskeletal Surgery at Magdeburg University Hospital
The University Medical Centre Magdeburg has set an important milestone with the establishment of the Centre for Musculoskeletal Surgery (MSC) on 1 July 2025. The Orthopaedic University Hospital, the University Hospital for Trauma Surgery and the University Hospital for Plastic, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery are now united under one roof.
The aim of the new centre is to strengthen interdisciplinary patient care, pool resources and jointly advance medical training and research.
At the outset, the MSC has a large team of doctors and nurses who contribute their expertise in all areas of musculoskeletal medicine. This means that highly specialised procedures – from endoprosthetics and complex trauma surgery to plastic and reconstructive surgery – can be offered from a single source.
‘With the MSC, we have pooled our resources to provide our patients with even better and more comprehensive care,’ explains Prof. Dr. Lohmann, Director of the Centre. ‘This is a win-win situation for medicine, research and education alike.’
