Practical and forward-looking: a look back at the Magdeburg Neurology Symposium 2025
On September 20, 2025, Magdeburg once again became the meeting place for neurological experts, as the 2nd Magdeburg Neurology Symposium drew numerous participants to the state capital. Renowned experts from across Germany presented a diverse program encompassing the entire spectrum of neurology – from rare diseases to the latest scientific advancements.
Following a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Stefanie Schreiber, acting head of the University Clinic for Neurology, and Dr. Marc Pawlitzki from the Magdeburg Neurology Practice, the symposium commenced with engaging specialist presentations. Topics included rare diseases, migraine, epilepsy, and dementia syndromes. The presentation by Prof. Dimitrios Mougiakakos, who impressively demonstrated the potential of CAR-T cell therapy for neurology, attracted particular attention. In addition, topics such as neurogeriatrics, pain therapy, Parkinson's syndromes, and neurosurgical issues were also in focus.

In the afternoon, the event came alive with interactive formats, as participants in the stroke battle and the multiple sclerosis battle discussed practical case studies in a controversial yet collegial manner. In addition, experts provided insights into neuromuscular diseases, myasthenia, botulinum toxin, and neurourology. Finally, the session “Neurology: DGN meets DGDM” ventured a look into the future, focusing on the use of digital technologies in neurology – from innovative diagnostic tools to digital solutions for patient care.
The symposium was impressive, featuring a successful blend of expertise, innovation, and lively exchange. It not only offered participants a concise overview of current trends and research results, but also provided the opportunity to engage in conversation with one another – an offer that was met with great interest and was rated positively across the board.
