Excellent teaching: Magdeburg anaesthesiology ranks among the top 10 in the PJ ranking

30.07.2025 -

The University Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine in Magdeburg was recognised as one of the best teaching clinics in Germany as part of the nationwide PJ Award 2025. In the latest evaluation by the Federal Representation of Medical Students in Germany (bvmd) and Ethimedis, the clinic achieved several top rankings: It ranked first among all university clinics (out of 37 institutions), fifth among all anaesthesiology departments (out of 730) and ninth among all PJ clinics evaluated nationwide (out of a total of 8,163).

The award is based on a nationwide survey of medical students in their practical year (PJ). In addition to objective criteria, personal evaluations and experience reports were also taken into account.

„This award is a strong sign of our team's extraordinary commitment to training future doctors,‘ says Clinic Director Prof. Robert Werdehausen, MD. ’It confirms our commitment to providing teaching at the highest professional and human level." ‘I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the PJ training programme, especially Dr. Christoph Keil, Anja Schwenteck and Benjamin Balkaner, for their tireless dedication, professional expertise and personal support of our students. This award is above all thanks to them,’ Prof. Werdehausen continues.

The entire team at the University Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine would like to express their sincere thanks for the trust placed in them by the students and see the award as motivation to further improve the quality of teaching in the practical year.
