In a recent study, a research team from Magdeburg University Hospital found that four consecutive sessions of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can bring about a noticeable reduction in cognitive fatigue in patients with long-term COVID.

With the notarisation of the investor agreement, Magdeburg University Hospital has been confirmed as the new medical partner of the Pfeiffer Foundations. The bidding process of the Pfeiffer Foundations in Magdeburg-Cracau has thus been successfully concluded.

On 4 June 2025, the Department of General Practice Education and Training in Regional General Practice (HAWIRA) will open its doors for an open exchange. The focus will be on the opportunities, challenges and possible solutions relating to interdisciplinary collaboration in the healthcare sector.

Prof. Dr rer. nat. Dr med. Johannes Bernarding retired on 31 March 2025. However, he will remain at the Faculty of Medicine at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg as a visiting scientist until the end of the year.

The motto of this year's Ethics Day at UMMD on 19 June is ‘With dementia in hospital’. In preparation for this, the UMMD's Clinical Ethics Committee, in cooperation with MINDdrop e. V., is organising a special hands-on event: a poetry slam on the topic of dementia.

Julia Nagelschmitz, an 8th semester medical student at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, was honoured with one of the coveted abstract prizes from the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery (DGAV) at the German Surgery Congress 2025 (DCK25) in Munich.
