UNIVERSITY CLINIC FOR TRAUMA SURGERY

Arthroscopic Surgery

Arthroscopic surgery is a standard procedure in the treatment of acute joint injuries and chronic joint changes. The arthroscope (keyhole technique) gives the surgeon a better insight into the joints with the corresponding anatomical structures. A further advantage of arthroscopic surgery is the tissue-conserving mode of operation, which shortens rehabilitation. New special arthroscopic instruments and implants are continuously being developed in order to be able to perform increasingly complex procedures with this minimally invasive technique. Nevertheless, arthroscopic surgery has its limits, so that the most promising procedure must be considered individually.

The main focus of our clinic is the treatment of joint injuries of the knee and shoulder joint. Our range of therapies includes the treatment of meniscus damage, ligament ruptures, cartilage lesions, tendon damage, impression fractures as well as complex internal joint injuries and instabilities. In addition, arthroscopic procedures are also performed on the elbow and ankle joints.
