"Train the Trainer" is an interdisciplinary and interprofessional program to improve teaching and training in medicine. The contents of the basic course are aimed at continuing education assistants and specialists in all fields, as well as practice instructors from nursing and other health care professions who are active in teaching and training. In addition, experienced

colleagues are welcome to learn clinical teaching in everyday life and to pass on tips and tricks to their continuing education assistants.

The participants of the basic course learn how good teaching is in clinical everyday life on a ward in which

the training can be integrated in the outpatient clinic or in the operating room and how they create an optimal teaching and learning climate through supportive mentoring behaviour and feedback. Teaching methods and didactic support for teaching at the hospital bed and for practicing practical skills as well as evaluation possibilities within the framework of clinical routine are imparted.

The course is part of a 2-step concept for didactic further education in human medicine. The

basic and advanced courses (further special and complex teaching situations) will be offered at the University Hospital Magdeburg in 2018. The course concept is part of the BMBF joint project "Practical Clinical Competence".
