UMMD welcomes the fourth year of the dual study program in Midwifery Sciences
On October 1 and 2, 2024, the Training Center for Healthcare Professions (AZG) at Magdeburg University Hospital warmly welcomed the 12 new students on the dual degree course in midwifery on behalf of the hospital's board of directors.
The midwives-to-be are the fourth year of practical training at the University Medical Center Magdeburg in cooperation with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. As the responsible practice institution, UMMD is proud to be part of the academic midwifery training and will in future accompany the students on their way to the double degree Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and the professional midwifery qualification. We can draw on decades of tradition in midwifery training. The Magdeburg clinics and midwifery practices in which the 12 students will complete their practical training in future are characterized by a consistent and high quality of training.
During these two days, the head of academic midwifery training, Ms. Josefine Börstler, and the central practice supervisor for obstetrics, Ms. Katharina Böttger, showed the young women the two main obstetrics clinics in Magdeburg and the campus of University Medicine, got to know each other better and worked through the necessary paperwork at the start of training.
One of the highlights was the creation of a time capsule, which will now remain closed for four years and will only be opened again at the end of the course.The key questions: “How do I want to develop personally?”“How do I imagine my professional future?” and ‘What do I want for society?’, all students wrote down ideas and placed them in a sealed envelope in the capsule.We are already looking forward to seeing in four years' time whether the hopes and wishes have been fulfilled.
