Where do I start my clinical rotation?
Great response: Magdeburg University Medical Center’s Clinical Rotation Fairs 2026
What does the clinical rotation actually entail—and where would I like to complete it? These questions were the focus of the clinical rotation fairs held in May at Magdeburg University Medical Center. On May 13, 2026, the teaching hospitals presented themselves, and on May 20, 2026, UMMD itself. Both events were well attended, with around 50 students at each.
The PJ fairs are aimed at medical students in their 4th and 5th years of study and offered the aspiring doctors an important platform, to learn early on about placement opportunities, training structures, and career paths during the Practical Year (PJ) and to engage directly with potential training institutions. The high level of interest once again demonstrated the great relevance of the PJ for career orientation during medical school. The Practical Year marks the transition from the lecture hall to everyday clinical practice.
An important factor: Magdeburg University Hospital provides PJ students with a monthly stipend of 992 euros. Many teaching hospitals also have comparable compensation models that provide financial support for the PJ.
The Office of the Dean of Studies thanks all participants for the numerous discussions and the great interest shown, and looks forward to welcoming many of the future doctors to our institution in the future.
