Referral to the special outpatient clinic for cerebral microangiopathy/cerebral amyloid angiopathy
In the special outpatient clinic for cerebral microangiopathy/cerebral amyloid angiopathy, the (suspected) diagnosis of cerebral microangiopathy, including cerebral amyloid angiopathy, is classified.
As a rule, cerebral microangiopathy is an incidental finding as part of cerebral MRI diagnostics. We review the imaging findings, assign them to a subtype of cerebral microangiopathy, and recommend or initiate further diagnostic measures. We take a position on the question of initiating, changing, or continuing anticoagulant therapy. A typical constellation here is cerebral microbleeds and/or siderosis with a simultaneous indication for oral anticoagulation.
We provide diagnostics, therapy, and follow-up care for patients with the inflammatory variant of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. This includes the indication for the initiation, continuation and termination of immunomodulatory therapy.
We kindly ask you to bring::
- previous MRI scans,
- previous medical reports,
- a current medication plan and
- current/last laboratory values (if available).
We will return all the documents you have brought with you to your patient at the end of the examination.
