Tasks of the Medical Quality Management:

Quality management is an important part of running a clinic. The hospital board is therefore responsible for the quality policy and for the definition of quality objectives within the overall strategy. The directors of the clinics and institutes as well as the heads of the departments are responsible for the implementation of quality projects and quality assurance. In the long term, quality not only leads to good medical care with excellent results, but also to a competitive advantage.

The Medical Director of the University Hospital Magdeburg A. ö.R. is the head of the quality management department, which is headed by a doctor and has the "Medical Quality Management" certificate accordant to the curriculum of the German Medical Association.

The central task of quality management is the coordination of quality projects for the entire hospital and activities in the individual clinics and institutes. The quality manager represents the link between the hospital board on the one hand and clinics and institutes on the other hand. He/She is responsible for carrying out the goals of quality management into the clinics and institutes and ensures the provision and establishment of the necessary and suitable hospital equipment.

Defined Tasks:

  • Compilation of the quality report (legally required according to §137 SGB V);
  • Support for external quality assurance (BQS, legally required by SGB V);
  • Support and advise the hospital board in the development of quality principles and quality goals;
  • Support and advise the hospital board in the development of a comprehensive quality management;
  • Accompanying and advising on the introduction and maintenance of QM systems to the time of certification / accreditation;
  • Advise and support of clinics and departments in setting up, developing and reviewing existing QM systems;
  • Advise and support of clinics and departments in setting up, developing and reviewing existing QM systems;
  • Consultation and support of clinics and departments in the realization of quality management requirements, in particular support of QM projects and QM processes;
  • Implementation of a medical risk management, in particular a CIRS;
  • Accompaniment of Quality Circles;;
  • Guidance of quality officers of the clinics;
  • Arranging and conducting training events for quality assurance officers;
  • Contact person for all employees of the hospital regarding questions of quality management;
  • Advising the Office of Medical Controlling;
  • Advising the individual business areas of the hospital;
  • Processing of External Inquiries:

Responsible for the implementation of quality goals in cooperation with the quality representatives of the clinics and institutes. The goal is to process quality projects through temporary, problem-oriented project groups. Regular quality conferences supporting  the sustainability of projects.

We strive to bridge the separation of quality care activities and other areas. The Quality Management departments of the Nursing Directorate and the Medical Directorate work together to implement the goals of the hospital board.
