Celebrity visit and blood donation appointment at the University Blood Bank of Magdeburg University Hospital
Minister of State and Head of the State Chancellery Rainer Robra visited the University Blood Bank at Magdeburg University Hospital and donated blood himself. The 72-year-old was impressed by the excellent care and professional support at the university blood bank.
During his visit to the university blood bank, Minister of State Rainer Robra gained an impression of the conditions and cooperation between the university blood bank and the German Red Cross (DRK) and praised the good cooperation, which contributes to an efficient and important blood supply in the region.

During his visit, Minister of State Rainer Robra emphasised the importance of blood donation and said: "The willingness to donate blood is a humanitarian gesture of great importance that has a lasting impact and saves lives.It takes relatively little time and the staff helped me to overcome my fears." He also emphasised that there are no longer any age restrictions for donating blood. "It is nice and important that anyone aged 18 and over can donate, provided they are healthy," added Robra. With the amendment to the Transfusion Act in 2023, there will no longer be an upper age limit for donating blood or plasma.
