Enthusiasm, humor and science: That was the 2nd UMMD Science Slam
"Clear the stage" was the motto again on April 5, 2024 for the 2nd UMMD Science Slam, this time in Lecture Hall 7 on the campus of University Medicine Magdeburg. Over 250 guests, including a large number of students, flocked to the modern new building to take part.
A highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the slam "Life of a lab gerbil" by Parthiban Saravanakumar from the Leibniz Institute of Neurobiology (LIN), who took the audience by storm with his humorous approach and deservedly secured victory and the coveted trophy. However, not only this contribution, but also the four other presentations by researchers from the University Medical Center Magdeburg and the LIN were equally inspiring and inspiring. The slammers presented their research topics in short, crisp talks that were designed with a mix of specialist knowledge and humor. This made complex research understandable and accessible. From radiology and hospital hygiene to neuroscience, the presentations offered a diverse insight into the research areas at Magdeburg University Hospital and its non-university partners. Hamburg rapper Charlott Green provided a special contrasting program with her energetic beats and lyrics.

We are already looking forward to future Science Slams, which will once again bring us closer to the fascinating world of research.
