New Head of the Institute of Pathology at Magdeburg University Hospital
The University Medical Center Magdeburg (UMMD) is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. med. Ludwig Wilkens as the new Head of Diagnostics at the Institute of Pathology. Prof. Wilkens will assume this position with immediate effect in parallel to his existing work at the Institute of Pathology at the Klinikum der Region Hannover (KRH). We are also pleased about the associated cooperation with the KRH in the field of pathology.
Prof. Wilkens is a recognized expert in his field.In addition to his many years of professional activity at the Klinikum der Region Hannover, he is involved in various international and national professional associations: Prof. Wilkens is a member of the International Academy of Pathology, the International Academy of Cytology and the German Society of Pathology.
The Medical Director of University Medicine Magdeburg, Prof. Dr. med. Hans-Jochen Heinze, emphasizes: "We are convinced that Prof. Wilkens will make an important contribution to the further development of the Institute of Pathology with his profound specialist knowledge and experience.His parallel activities at various medical institutions underline his versatility and his commitment to pathology at a national and international level."

Prof. Wilkens has the task of reorganizing the Institute of Pathology and preparing it for a new academic appointment in the coming years. The pathologist emphasizes: "I am looking forward to taking on the position of Head of the Institute of Pathology in Magdeburg. My aim is to use my knowledge and experience to contribute to the further development of pathological diagnostics and research at Magdeburg University Hospital."
