Women in Hematology and Oncology
The Universitätsklinik für Hämatologie und Onkologie Magdeburg Invites you to the 1st Symposium "Women in Hematology and Oncology" on April 12, 2023.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. in the Central Lecture Hall (House 22) on the campus of Magdeburg University Medical Center. For more information about the program, please visit the Flyer.
Dear female students, dear female colleagues,
we cordially invite you to our 1st Symposium - Women in Hematology and Oncology.
The proportion of female first-year students in human medicine has risen continuously over the past 20 years and is currently stable at two-thirds. Consequently, the proportion of female entrants in hematology and oncology is also above 50%. However, this proportion of women is not reflected at all levels of clinical and scientific careers.
In hematology and oncology, only between 2017 and 2019 were the first two of the 36 university chairs filled by a woman. The proportion of female professors and post-doctoral fellows is also still well below 50%.
On the one hand, the career must be wanted, well planned and approached in a targeted manner. Female students and residents should therefore be encouraged and supported to develop their professional expertise, especially at the beginning of their careers.
The framework conditions for work-life balance in the everyday working lives of female physicians continue to be a central issue with a need for optimization.
With this event, we want to make an active contribution to the expansion of professional networks in hematology and oncology in Saxony-Anhalt. Together, we want to shed light on hurdles, but also on previously unnoticed opportunities for career development for female physicians in hematology and oncology.
Furthermore, we look forward to a lively exchange about your expectations and suggestions for the creation of future-oriented structures!
We look forward to seeing you!
