About the person
PD Dr Stefan Fest, born in 1975, studied human medicine in Berlin, where he also completed his doctorate at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He completed his habilitation at the University of Magdeburg. From 2020 - 2022, Fest completed the Master's degree programme in Health Business Administration (MHBA) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He completed his specialist training in paediatrics and adolescent medicine at Leipzig University Children's Hospital. From 2008 to 2012, he headed the Paediatric Immunotherapy Junior Research Group at Magdeburg University Children's Hospital. Since 2021, Fest has been Chief Physician at the Paediatric Clinic of Dessau Municipal Hospital and a visiting scientist at the Department of Environmental Immunology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ).
His research focuses on immune regulation in neuroblastoma, the most common solid tumour outside the brain in children. He also investigates the interaction between immune cells in the foeto-maternal contact zone and their modulation by environmental factors. His research interests also include the investigation of genetic and environmental factors that influence child development, as well as aspects of paediatric care research.
