Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) has once again awarded the title of "Associate Professor" (APL) at the Faculty of Medicine to five private lecturers. The title is awarded by the OVGU to postdoctoral lecturers who, in the opinion of the faculty, have proven themselves to be outstanding in research and teaching.

Background

In Saxony-Anhalt, the "associate professorship" is awarded on the basis of Section 48 (3) of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA). The prerequisite is that a Privatdozent or Privatdozentin has generally been successfully active in teaching and research for four years prior to the appointment.
